Whew!

Things here are slowwwly returning to normal. Thank you for all the well-wishes. I haven't been great at replying to people; sorry if I haven't replied to you. Right now I'm working on some doll bedding for my daughter's third birthday. I wanted to do something tiny to get back in the swing of things. So I've got a cute little blue doll quilt on the go. Question: Do you use smaller binding when you make a doll quilt? I never have, but I'm wondering if I should try.
I found some wonderful white material that belonged to my mother-in-law, who passed away 10 years ago this June. It makes me so sad to know my girls will always be missing someone so significant. I'm always trying to find ways to include her in our daily lives. I worked another fabric she owned into both the girls' baby quilts. I'm planning on using this white fabric for the new blocks quilt.

I've always used normal sized binding on all my projects with at least 1/4 inch seam on the front. It's not as though you are doing a micro quilt - even they have a scant 1/4 inch seam.

I love how you are incorporating family memories into your quilt. My mother died quite young as well and my children had not known her muc. (Their other grandmother is great though).

Hope things continue to settle and improve...

Cheers - Shari

So glad you are getting back into the swing of things. My break was also due to flooding/plumbing issues. And raw sewage, yuck!

On another note I think it is fabulous that you are working memories of your children's grandmother into your projects. I am very sentimental about stuff like that as well.

Hello again, so sorry to hear about the mishaps at your house. I think whatever you do as binding will be just fine. With doll quilts I ususally use the same 1.5" that I bind big quilts with. Only 1/4" shows on the front anyway. And when I am making doll quilts for the daycare center, I just do a pillowcase turn on them and then top stitch around the outer edge. I use flannel for backing and no batting in those day care dolly quilts. They wrap around the dolls and bears quite nicely without batting. Good that you are sewing again. Hugs, Finn

Hi, M.I.L's fabric in your kid's quilts is a lovely way to use something of hers in their lives.
Hope you're well. ;)

Beautiful blues in that quilt, and that's so special you can incorporate your mother-in-law into your quilts!
