Whirly Giggle

Well here is my finished whirly giggle top. I am so pleased with how it turned out! I've already started cutting to make a second one for the baby in greens, blues, pinks. The quilting is also going well. I'm trying out a new technique and the going is slow, but it feels good. I'm hoping to get the quilting done in the next week or so - I'd love for this to be bound and on my daughter's bed by March. And I'll try to resist the urge to start the next one before I finish the top for my Mom's quilt. Try.
On a sad note, the nursery quilt I was planning for my friend will be put on hold. She miscarried and we're all devastated. It's such a hard thing to deal with. So I'm putting my fabric away but hopefully I'll be bringing it out again for her very soon. I'm actually thinking of making her a lap quilt just for her.

I was away with the girls earlier this week and stopped in to a quaint little quilt shop. I wasn't wowed by any of the fabric but what I couldn't get over was the service. Or lack of service I should say. I was the only customer and there were 4 employees and not one of them said as much as hello to me in the 20 minutes I was in the store. Unbelievable, especially with the economy the way it is.

OH hello....your little quilt is so sweet. I LOVE that pattern....I want..I want to make one too!
I think making your friend a little lap quilt would be such a thoughtful gesture...good idea!
AND..as for the quilt shop service...I hear ya...similar episode happened to me...and found out the same happened to my DHubby in the same shop at Christmas when he went in there to buy me some fabric. He told me that they could have sold him everything in the store if they had only waited on him.....if they had only known how true that was....I said the exact same thing to my DHubby...you would think that with the economy their service would be top notch....I also was the only one in their store that day too!

I knew you would be pleased. It was nice that it was won by someone who visits my blog, and not just at 'give away' times. :))
I need to know where to post this little package. My e-mail address is quilters7@sympatico.ca Now if you can drop me a line with your snail mail address, I will mail it out to you Monday morning.
Will check outlook for you this weekend...

LOVE your whirlygiggle!! Love the colors. I just did one with a bunch of bright colors. I like the softer blues and greens with white! You inspire me!! I just might have to try another one! Looks great!

Your Whirly Giggle turned out just too cute for words! I really like it! Sorry to hear of your friend's loss.

I know what you mean about customer service - that's the norm for most shops here in Oz, although generally the quilty ones are better. It is surprising to find that with shops in the US. They are obviously not quilters and only filling in time for the paycheck.

Cheers!

PS Did you quilt that with the 'my aunt june' technique? It's turned out really good!

Cheers!

I love this quilt. I'm about to start my own. The way you've quilted this looks awesome, well done. I'm always looking for new ways to quilt and this is a technique I'm going to try. Love your work. :)

Hi -
Love your quilt! Where can I find the pattern? Is it named Whirly Giggle?
Thanks,
